 Women's wing of Progressive Senior Citizen Society celebrated International Women's Day. 


Barnala, March 7 (Sukhwinder Singh Bhandari) The women's wing of Progressive senior citizen Society Regd. Barnala under the leadership of Chairperson Neeraj Bala Dania and Chief Patron Piara Lal Raisar Wale in collaboration with Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle and Suryavanshi Khattri Sabha Barnala celebrated International Women's Day at Shri  Lal Bahadur Shastri Arya Mahila College Barnala, During which the women who achieved name and fame in various fields were honoured by presenting magnificent trophies, medals and shawls. On this occasion, the Principal of LBS College Dr. Neelam Sharma welcomed the guests and congratulated    the audience on International Women's Day. Manavjit Sidhu, Deputy Superintendent of Police (D) Barnala, who arrived as the chief guest on this occasion, said that women have achieved important achievements and honourable positions in various fields. Women have been empowered more than ever but there is still a dire need for women to stand on their own feet. He inspired women to unite to get their rights. Guest of Honour Baljit Singh Incharge C I Staff Handiaya appealed to the people to cooperate with the police administration for the prevention of drugs as the suffering of drugs is mostly suffered by the youth as well as women. Dharam Singh Fauzi, municipal councillor and journalist Balwinder Sharma, who arrived as a special guest on this occasion, invited the parents to act and prevent social evils. Meanwhile, lecturer Kavita Rampal, Dr. Harjinder Kaur, Dr. Shikha, Ramesh Rani also emphasized on the empowerment of women while presenting their views. Social worker Sukhwinder Singh Bhandari, conducting the stage, informed that Progressive Senior Citizen Society, Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle and Suryavanshi Khatri Sabha Barnala have been creating awareness among the people against female feticide and gender discrimination along with social service for a long time. Special contribution was made by Naib Tehsildar Barnala Surinder Pabbi on this occasion. Meanwhile, Principal Dr. Neelam Sharma LBS Arya Women's College Barnala, Kavita Rampal Lecturer at G.S.S.S. Bhadalwad, Dr. Shikha and Dr. Harjinder Kaur Civil Hospital Barnala, Head Constable Navdeep Kaur Women's Mitar  Police Station Tallewal, Ramesh Devi, Social Worker,  Rani Kaur Thikriwal, Lecturer Dr. Kiran Sikri Arya Mahila College,Khipinder Pal Kaur, teacher G P S  Handiaya, social worker Harvinder Kaur and Kavita Rani teacher G P S Jumla Malkin school Barnala etc. were honoured. After that, all the guests who arrived were also honoured by presenting Siropas and medals. Babita Jindal, President of women's wing of Progressive Senior Citizen Society Regd  Barnala, thanked everyone by singing a song. Meanwhile, Rajesh Bhutani, Hem Raj Verma, Gurmeet Singh Meemsa, Rakesh Jindal and Kewal Krishna Garg handled the entire management of the event well. Meanwhile, journalists Janak Raj Goyal, Mahinderpal Garg, Soma Bhandari, Sapna Garg, Ashwani Sharma, Monika Garg, Asha Verma, Ramesh Kaushal, Kamla Rani, Sahil Garg, Sarup Chand Verma etc. were specially present on the occasion.
