- Built RRR centers at different places in the city

-Used items will be deposited in RRR centers and will be given free to the needy.

   Municipal Corporation Hoshiarpur Commissioner Komal Mittal informed that a special cleaning campaign 'My Life-My Clean City' will be conducted in the city. This campaign is being conducted across the country on the occasion of World Environment Day to ensure people's participation in environmental protection by bringing changes in their lifestyle. She said that during this campaign, special RRR centers will be established at different places in the city, where people will be able to deposit their used and reusable goods. She said that these centers will be established on the principles of reduce, reuse and recycle under the Swachh Bharat Mission.

   The commissioner said that the residents of the city can deposit their used goods such as clothes, shoes, bags, toys, books and other stationery, electronic goods etc in the RRR centers. She said that any needy person will be able to get these goods for free and the rest of the goods will be recycled. Free fodder, cloth bags and testimonials will be given as return gifts to the depositors. All the centers will be geo-tagged for the convenience of the people and a record of the material received daily will be kept.

   She said that during this campaign, strict action and penalty will be imposed on those selling and using plastic envelopes/single use plastic items and tiles and hoardings will be removed from tree roots and more trees of local species will be planted. She said that the cooperation of all citizens and organizations is necessary to make this campaign successful.

   Mayor Surinder Kumar said that this campaign will prove to be a milestone in making the city garbage free. He appealed to the citizens and organizations to deposit maximum number of reusable goods in their nearest centres. He also appealed to the residents of the city not to use plastic envelopes/single use plastic items and also asked them not to throw garbage in the open and not to set fire.
