 35 percent subsidy will be given on setting up food processing units: GM District Industries Center

- Awareness camp organized by District Industry Center under PMFME scheme in Fapro

On the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal, an awareness camp was organized under the PMFME scheme at the Farmers Producer Promotion Society (FAPRO) in Kangmai village of Block Bhunga by the District Industry Center, in which about 80 farmers and entrepreneurs of the district participated. Meanwhile, General Manager District Industries Center Arun Kumar said that the Prime Minister's Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme has been started at the national level on behalf of the Food Processing Industry of the Government of India in partnership with the State Government. In this scheme, Punjab Agro Industries Corporation has been made the State Nodal Agency, while the General Manager, District Industries Center will be the nodal officer of the district.

Giving complete information about the said scheme on behalf of GM District Industry Center, it was said that under this scheme food processing projects up to Rs 1 crore can be set up, in which at least 10 persons work. He told that 35 percent capital subsidy is also available under this scheme, which can be maximum of Rs.10 lakh. He told that the applicants who want to take advantage of the scheme will have to invest 10 percent of the project on their behalf. Apart from this, under this scheme, the unit taking the loan is also given the benefit of interest subvention of up to 3 percent. He said that to take advantage of this scheme, one can apply on the online portal www.pmfme.mofpi.gov.in of the Ministry of Food Processing, Government of India.

GM District Industry Center Arun Kumar said that 5 district resource persons have been appointed by the government in the district to fill the online form and get financial assistance from the bank, who provide full assistance to the applicants in preparing the project report of the beneficiary without any fees and completing the formalities of the bank. He informed that this financial assistance is available for new and already running units related to food processing. To get other information related to this scheme, the office of General Manager, District Industries Center Hoshiarpur can be contacted. Their views were also kept on behalf of the beneficiaries Amarinder Singh, Harmesh Lal, Gurpreet Singh who have received benefits under this scheme.

Meanwhile, Deputy Director of Krishi Vigyan Kendra Bahowal, Maninder Singh Bounce said that training is being imparted on behalf of his center to set up food processing units. Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Gurdev Singh gave detailed information to the people who came to the camp about the facilities provided by his department related to food processing. Jasveer Singh, President of Farmers Produce Promotion Society, Nirupa Rampal, Functional Manager, District Industries Center were also present on the occasion.
