District Election Officer Hoshiarpur and Election Registration Officer 43-Hoshiarpur today organized a 'Mela Tiyan Da' program in DAV College Hoshiarpur under sweep activity. The purpose of this mela organized to celebrate the traditional festival of Punjab and voter awareness campaign, was to sensitize women voters. Additional CEO Punjab Vipul Ujwal and Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Komal Mittal attended the function as chief guests.

In the 'Mela Tiyan Da' program, women and girls gave the message to voters to vote and vote through speech, ramp walk, giddha, drama and other activities. Meanwhile, Additional CEO Punjab Vipul Ujwal said that this is a very good initiative of the district administration. He said that a very good attempt has been made to motivate women to vote by combining the traditional festival of Punjab with sweep activity through this program. He said that the Election Commission continuously conducts sweep activities to increase the vote percentage, in which voters of every section of the society are reached through various means and motivate them from making votes to voting. He said that in view of the Lok Sabha elections to be held in the year 2024, voter awareness activities will be conducted not only in Hoshiarpur but in the entire state through sweep. He said that the elections are still next year, so the first thing we are trying to do is to ensure that people of 18 years of age and above vote, for which the work of voting is going on through the booth level officers.

Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Komal Mittal said that women and girls have performed very well in the voter awareness campaign of 'Mela Tiyan Da'. She said that women have conveyed the message of voter awareness in a very good way through giddha, speeches and drama. She said that the booth level officers are going door to door to educate all the voters of the district aged 18 years and above. Apart from this, if someone wants to cast a new vote, she can cast his vote by visiting the Election Commission's website NVSP and voter helpline. Apart from this, corrections can also be made in the vote. She said that this kind of organization is done so that people of all sections can be made aware to vote and vote. She also appealed to the youth and women to cast their vote. Meanwhile, she also thanked the DAV College Management Committee.

On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (c) Rahul Chaba, SDM Hoshiarpur Preetinder Singh Bains, Election Tehsildar Harminder Singh, Naib Tehsildar Vijay Kumar, District Sweep Nodal Officer Preet Kohli, Prof. Pooja Vashisht, Election Kanugo Deepak Kumar, Harpreet Kaur , Lakhveer Singh, Megha Mehta, PWD district icon Inderjit Nandan , Praveen Kaushal, Sanjeev Kaushal, Rajan Monga and other dignitaries were also present.
