Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal today dispatched the cycle rally to promote Armed Forces Flag Day from Hoshiarpur to Pathankot from District Defense Services Welfare Office. Before this, he reached the war memorial and paid tribute to the martyred soldiers who made sacrifices for the country.
The Deputy Commissioner said that like every year, this year too, Armed Forces Flag Day is being celebrated on December 7 across the country. A cycle rally was flagged off by Chief Minister Punjab on 7th November with the aim of making people aware about Flag Day in Punjab and motivating them to contribute more. This rally will start from Punjab Raj Bhawan Chandigarh and cover all the districts of Punjab and will end on 7th December 2023 at Punjab Raj Bhavan Chandigarh in the presence of Governor Punjab. Using the same route, this cycle rally has reached Hoshiarpur district via Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar (Navanshahr) and this morning the cycle rally of 16 volunteers was sent to Mukerian. The rally will leave for Pathankot from Mukerian the next day.
On behalf of the Deputy Commissioner, an appeal was made to create public interest regarding the Flag Day, to spread maximum awareness among the citizens and to give maximum financial support and publicity regarding the flag to all the citizens of the district. On this occasion, she also handed over financial assistance checks to 6 economically weaker ex-servicemen and their families. She said that in order to maintain the unity and integrity of the country, the soldiers of our district have given many martyrdoms and many soldiers have been seriously injured in various battles fought since the Second World War and campaigns against terrorism. have been She said that our district is the leader in giving sacrifices in the whole country. We are enjoying the warmth of the freedom of the country only because of the unparalleled sacrifices of these martyrs. She said that Armed Forces Flag Day provides a golden opportunity to all of us to honor our brave soldiers and their families. On this occasion, she appealed to the heads of all departments that it is our responsibility to come forward for this work and contribute to this noble work by collecting maximum money.
On this occasion Brigadier Amrik Singh (retired), Vice Chairman of District Military Board Hoshiarpur said that Armed Forces Flag Day is celebrated on 7th December and the collected money is used for various welfare schemes and services run by the Central and State Governments.| Used for the welfare of serving soldiers, their widows and disabled soldiers. He said that the amount donated in connection with the Armed Forces Flag Day is exempt from income tax. Major Yashpal Singh (retd), Colonel Patial, Superintendent Baljit Kaur, Raj Kumari, Baldev Singh, Naresh Kumar, Kuldeep Singh and students of Military Pre-Recruitment Training were also present on this occasion.
