National Cancer Awareness Day was celebrated by St. Soldier Divine Public School, Mahilpur. A special lecture was organized in this regard, in which Dr. Sukhmeet Kaur Bedi arrived as the chief guest. He was welcomed by school principal Medha Vashishtha and staff. Giving information to the students, Dr. Bedi said that National Cancer Awareness Day is celebrated all over the country, the aim of which is to spread awareness about cancer among the people. Cancer is a terrible disease. When abnormal growth of cells occurs in the body, it results in cancer. It can affect almost any part of the body. He informed that more than 100 types of cancer exist including lung cancer, skin cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer etc. Cancer usually has no specific symptoms. To avoid this, one should have a balanced diet, physical activities like walking, running, yoga, gym etc., avoiding strong sunlight, not consuming tobacco or tobacco products and undergoing proper cancer checkup from time to time. If cancer is identified in early detection, its treatment is also possible. He inspired all the students to make people aware about cancer.
