To provide relief in case of any kind of natural or man-made disaster in the country, Government of India, NDMA, SDMA Punjab, DDMA SBS Nagar and Mahatma Gandhi State Institute Of Public Administration, Chandigarh started Aapda Mitra Scheme. This scheme was launched few days ago in SBS Nagar under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Jog Singh Bhatia ji (Senior Consultant MGSIPA). Prof. Bhatia said that under this scheme, Aapda Mitra volunteers are being trained in many districts of India to deal with disasters and provide immediate assistance to the people. Each trained community volunteer will be provided with a personal protective equipment/emergency action kit as well as group insurance covering life and medical facilities. A 'Community Emergency Essential Resource Reserve' of essential light search and rescue equipment, first aid kits etc. will be created at the district/block level. Under the scheme, from all the states/union territories for rescue and relief operations during other disasters like flood, cyclone, landslide, drought, earthquake etc. The training was given under the supervision of Jog Singh Bhatia (Course Director and Senior Consultant, MGSIPA). In the above camp, Shruti Aggarwal (Consultant), Yogesh Uniyal (Training Coordinator), Amanpreet Kaur, Gulshan Hira, Harkirat Singh, Yogesh Bhardwaj, Shubham Verma, Stanzin Sela, Kumari Noornisha, Sachin Sharma and Anshuman Sharda  are giving training to the volunteers as Aapda Mitra Yojana instructors and played their special role. During this time Prof. J.S.Bhatia ji while giving information to the journalists, said that today, on the last day of the 12-day training camp under the Aapda Mitra Scheme, the volunteers were honored by giving them ID cards and certificates. In this camp, District ADC Rajeev Verma played a special role as the chief guest and along with him were Mr. Ravindra Bansal (SDM Balachaur), Mr. Parveen Chhibber (Tehsildar SBS Nagar), and Prof. Dr. A.S.Chawla (Vice Chancellor, Lamrin Tech Skills University) was also present on the occasion. During this, certificates and I-cards were distributed to all the volunteers who had taken the training. In the closing ceremony of the camp, all the volunteers showcased their talents and gave a drill rehearsal to the guests, training team members and the public about their 12 days training that they learned.
