 District Red Cross Society made youth who gave up drug addiction self-reliant

- First batch passed out to do skilled course in drug de-addiction and rehabilitation center.

- Deputy Commissioner and SSP gave certificates to 25 youth who did the course.

Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal and SSP Surendra Lamba today distributed certificates on completion of the course to 25 youth who gave up the drug addiction and skilled course at the De-addiction and Rehabilitation Center, Hoshiarpur and wished them a bright future. Last year, the District Red Cross Society, taking a special initiative, had started two skilled courses - Multi Cuisine Cook, Hair Dresser and Salon Artist, for which the first batch was given certificates on completion of the course today. Due to the efforts of the Red Cross Society, these youth have now become self-reliant.

While addressing during the certificate distribution ceremony, the Deputy Commissioner said that the purpose of the skilled courses started by the district administration for the youth who have given up drug addiction is to make them stand on their own feet. She said that after this 45-day course, these youth became skilled and can start their own business after leaving the centre. She said that if he needs any help to stand on his feet, he will be provided full assistance by the Employment Department. She said that after doing this course, these youth will establish themselves in the society with a new identity. She said that in the first batch, 15 people have completed the skilled course of multi-cuisine cook and 10 people have completed the skilled course of hair dresser and salon artist. She said that people trapped in the trap of drug addiction can give a new direction to their lives by taking advantage of the drug de-addiction and rehabilitation center of Hoshiarpur.

SSP Surendra Lamba said that this is a very good initiative taken by the district administration to free the youth trapped in drug addiction and rehabilitate them. While the youth have given up drug addiction by staying in de-addiction centres, they have also given proof of being mentally strong by doing skilled courses. He said that it is a big victory for the Punjab government in its war against drugs that our youth have given up drugs and are now standing on their own feet. During this time, while talking to the youth admitted in the centre, he encouraged them.

On this occasion, Secretary Red Cross Society Mangesh Sood, Deputy Medical Commissioner Dr. Harbans Kaur, Medical Officer Sahildeep Sallan, Career Counselor Aditya Rana, Manager Nisha Kumari, Counselor Rajvinder Kaur, Prashant Kumar, Red Cross Society members Rajiv Bajaj, Ramesh Kumari, Sarbjit Singh. Apart from Manav Kumar, Deepika, Abhishek Pathak, Sunil Kumar and other dignitaries were also present.
