Cabinet Minister Punjab Bram Shankar Jimpa said that if equal opportunities are provided to children with special needs, they too can make an important contribution in the development of the country and society by showcasing their talents. He was addressing today while inaugurating a two-day sports competition for children with special needs at the district level in the playground of Government Senior Secondary School, Baghpur. On this occasion, Hoshiarpur Co-operative Bank Chairman Vikram Sharma, District Education Officer (A) Gurinderjit Kaur, Deputy District Education Officer (A) Sukhwinder Singh and School Principal Surjeet Singh were also present.

The Cabinet Minister said that the society should treat children with special needs better so that they develop self-confidence and can strengthen their future. He said that the future is very bright in the field of sports and the youth should actively participate in sports along with studies. He said that development in the fields of health and education is a special priority of the government. He said that such competitions for youth with special needs will continue to be organized from time to time.

Interesting matches were seen on the first day of the game and the players of the district showed full strength to win. There were many children among the players who could not hear or speak and their coach explained to such players through gestures. It is noteworthy that the District Education Department has directed students with special needs from 1715 government schools of 21 blocks of the district to participate in the sports function. On this occasion, District Special Educator Anju Saini, Dr. Dheeraj, Subhash Chandra, Nek Chand, Samiksha Saini, Anita Kumari, Anju, Ajay Kumar, Renu Kanwar, Narendra Cheema, Rekha, Usha and other dignitaries were also present.
