Deputy Speaker of Punjab Assembly Jai Krishan Singh Rouri said that the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Bhagwant Singh Mann is leaving no stone unturned to completely eliminate drug addiction and the youth should also be motivated to stay away from drugs. He was addressing as the chief guest during the closing ceremony of the district level games under the anti-drug campaign conducted by District Police Hoshiarpur at Police Line Ground today. During this time, Dasuya MLA Karambir Singh Ghuman, Sham Chaurasi MLA Dr. Ravjot Singh, Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal and SSP Surender Lamba were also present with him. On this occasion, the chief guest and other guests also honored the winning teams.

The Deputy Speaker said that such events should be organized regularly to keep the youth away from drugs and encourage them towards sports. He said that the players of the district have brought glory to Hoshiarpur at the national and international level, the credit for which goes not only to the hard work of the players but also to the sports policy of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, because the Punjab government not only gives medals to the players. . After bringing them, not only their morale is being boosted but the Punjab Government is also providing them as much financial assistance as possible to prepare for the matches. He said that recently the Chief Minister Punjab has honored international players with the posts of PCS and PPS. He said that drug addiction has been curbed to a great extent in the district and the youth trapped in drug addiction are being treated and rehabilitated. He said that the purpose of organizing such events by the district police is to spread awareness against drug addiction and to inspire the young generation to give up the drug habit, in which citizens and police administration together are doing commendable work.

On this occasion, the teams coming first, second and third in various competitions were given 21 thousand, 11 thousand and 5 thousand rupees and mementos respectively. In the Kabaddi competitions, Baghpur School stood first, DAV College Dasuya stood second and Phambia stood third. In the volleyball match, Mukerian stood first, Bullowal stood second and Garhshankar stood third. In basketball matches, Tanda's team stood first, Purhiran's team stood second and Garhshankar's team stood third. In football matches, Gian Chabbewal stood first, Bajwara stood second and Bilaspur team stood third.

SSP Surender Lamba, while welcoming the guests and thanking those who cooperated in this event, said that about three thousand people participated in the district level sports competition and one thousand players participated in various sports. Appreciation certificates were given to the players who participated in the sports meet. Apart from this, referees, coaches and judges who helped in conducting the games were also honoured. He told that in connection with the campaign against drugs being run by the Punjab Government, D.G.P. Punjab and following the instructions of Special Director General of Police Special Task Force Punjab, on behalf of the District Administration, District Group G.O.G. With the help of Sports Department, Youth Clubs and general public, football, basketball, kabaddi and volleyball matches were organized at the police station level from 8th to 9th February and at the sub-division level from 10th February to 11th February. On this occasion, SP Manoj Kumar, SP Sarbjit Singh, SP Major Singh, SP Navneet Kaur, DSP Amarnath, DSP Satish Kumar and other police officers were present.
