In opposition to the AAP government's proposal to divide Garhshankar sub-division and merge some villages of Garhshankar with Nawanshahr district, Bar Association Garhshankar today announced to stop the court work by going on strike under the leadership of Advocate Pankaj Kipal President.  Advocate Pankaj Kirpal, speaking to the press today, said that instead of connecting the villages of Garhshankar sub-division with another district, Garhshankar should be made a district.  He said that Garhshankar is one of the oldest sub-divisions of Punjab. He said that when Nawanshahr was a police chowki, Garhshankar was also a sub-division. He said that there has been injustice with the Garhshankar sub-division since the beginning. He said that earlier Balachor was separated from Garhshankar sub-division and merged with Namwanshahr and Nawanshahr was made a district, whereas Garhshankar had the right to become a district.  He said that by connecting the villages of Garhshankar sub-division with Nawanshahr, the facilities available to the people of the backward area will also be lost.  He said that apart from this, people will have to be forced to change their documents too. He said that any conspiracy to break Garhshankar will not be allowed to succeed.  He said that the Chief Minister, Deputy Speaker, Revenue Minister and Deputy Commissioner will also be met in this regard. Bar Association Garhshankar, Advocate Pankaj Kirpal said that the struggle will be intensified by bringing together the traders, Municipal Councillors, citizens and panchayats of the area.  Chaudhary Bhagu Ram Chairman, Balwinder Singh Vice President, Rupesh Khanna Secretary, Sanjeev Kalia, Sanjeev Dodd, Ramnath Roy, Pawan Roy, Shivam Gaur, Dipankar Lumb, Gurdeep Saini, Surinder Kumar, Harvinder Pal, Municipal Councilor Harpreet Singh, Shashi Kumar , Sukh Nagpal, Rajesh Kumar, Amarinder Bhullar, Monty Kumar, Raman Kumar, Satpal Chaudhary, Sanjeev Banga, Naresh Bhatti, Madhu Rana, Sarita Kanwar, Raj Kumar Bhatti, etc. were present on this occasion.
