Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa, taking stock of the ongoing wheat procurement process in Nawanshahr and Rahon grain markets of the district, ordered the officials to speed up the lifting of the purchased wheat.
The Deputy Commissioner directed that all the officers should visit the grain markets continuously and ensure every arrangement within the stipulated time. He said that a total of 94172 metric tons of wheat has arrived in the grain markets of the district till last evening. He said that today on April 24, 20684 metric tons of wheat have arrived in the markets of the district. The purchase of which has been done by various procurement agencies. He instructed the representatives of government procurement agencies such as Markfed, Pangrain, Warehouse, Pansap etc. to carry out timely lifting of the crop purchased from the farmers so that there is no shortage of wheat in the markets. He asked the District Market Officer to ensure the availability of tarpaulins as required in view of the rainy season. The Deputy Commissioner said that there is no problem regarding transportation and labor in mandis, so the entire procurement process should be ensured smoothly and according to the limit table set by the government. On this occasion SDM Nawanshahr Akshita Gupta, concerned department officials and farmers were also present.
