100 percent wheat purchased has reached the markets so far

Out of the 270434 metric tons of wheat that has reached the mandis of the district so far, 270434 metric tons of wheat (100 percent) has been purchased. Giving this information, Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal said that direct payment of Rs 578.26 crore has been made to the accounts of farmers for the purchased crops. Deputy Commissioner said that till now 143542 metric tonnes of wheat has been lifted from the mandis, which is 64 percent in 72 hours. She informed that smooth and hassle-free procurement of wheat is being done in all the 74 mandis of the district. She said that at present Pangrain is leading in terms of procurement and so far 75105 metric tonnes of wheat has been purchased by it. Similarly, 61143 metric tons of wheat has been purchased by Markfed, 65975 by Pansup, 38070 by Punjab State Warehousing Corporation, 22448 by FCI and 7693 metric tons of wheat has been purchased by traders. She said that keeping in mind the weather patterns, guidelines have been issued to the concerned authorities regarding necessary arrangements, so that there is no damage to the crops in the mandis.
The Deputy Commissioner said that every grain of wheat will be purchased in the mandis. She said that special arrangements have been made keeping in mind the convenience of the farmers. Complete arrangements like sheds, fans, drinking water etc. have been made in the mandis for the convenience of the farmers.
Appealing to the farmers, she said that they should bring the crops to the markets after completely drying them and the crops should not be harvested with combines in the evening. She said that when wheat is harvested in the evening, the combines also harvest the moist crop, due to which the amount of moisture in the crop increases. She appealed to the farmers to save the environment from getting polluted by not burning wheat remains and straw.
