District Election Officer cum District Magistrate Komal Mittal has said that elections are the main pillar of democracy and doing election duty is a proud act of participating in strengthening the democracy of our great country. Therefore, the employees whose duty is involved in the voting process, should perform this duty with full dedication, honesty and impartiality as it is their government job and should not approach the District Magistrate's office to get the duty cut. HlSje said that during the first rehearsal of polling personnel, about 350 employees were found absent in the entire district. She said that show cause notices are being issued to these employees. The absent employees should immediately report to their respective AROs. She said that women polling personnel are being deployed in their home constituencies and pregnant women have already been relieved from duty. She said that a medical team has been formed under the leadership of Civil Surgeon for exemption from duty on medical grounds. She said that negligence in election duty is considered a serious lapse in the service rules of the employee, hence no one should be absent from election duty. She said that no employee's duty will be cut under any circumstances. She said that if any employee is found negligent in his duty, an FIR will be lodged against him under Section 134 and departmental rules.
