The work of online registration for getting technical education during the year 2024-25 in different technical colleges of Punjab state has been started by the Punjab State Board of Technical Education, Chandigarh. Giving information in this regard, Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal said that a help desk has been set up at Pandit Jagat Ram Government Polytechnic College, Hoshiarpur for the interested students. Students wishing to get technical education can deposit their registration fee online at this help desk without any additional charge. She informed that the students who have passed class 10th can take admission in the first year of Engineering Diploma, while the students who have passed ITI (two years), class 12th (Vocational), class 12th (Science) can take admission in the second year. She informed that the students who have passed class 12th (Science) can also take admission in the first year of Pharmacy Diploma. Special duty of employees has been put on every working day to assist the students who wish to take admission in online registration. No fee is being charged by this college for typing and photo, signature and certificate scanning etc. for the said registration. Registration for the first counseling for online admission in the above courses can be done till 5th July 2024. After this, choice filling for the first counseling can be done from 2nd July 2024 to 9th July 2024.

College Principal Rajesh Kumar Dhunna informed that a guidance cell has been set up by Dr. Pankaj Chawla with the objective of giving information about various technical courses running across Punjab to the students and their parents. The cell has been set up under the supervision of Dr. Pankaj Chawla, Mobile No.: 94170-74774. From this cell, valuable information can be obtained free of cost regarding various engineering diploma courses and pharmacy courses being run in the college and the fees of these courses. She said that Pandit Jagat Ram Government Polytechnic College, Hoshiarpur has been making valuable contribution in bringing technical skills in students since 1962. She said that this college has also been declared the best polytechnic college of North India. Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, ECE, Computer Science and Engineering, Plastic Technology and Pharmacy Diploma courses are being run in this college. Dr. Pankaj Chawla, Incharge of Guidance Cell, said that as per the instructions of Punjab/Government of India, special concession in fees is being given to students belonging to Scheduled Caste, Backward Class, Minority etc. Fee for SC students with family income upto Rs. 2.50 lakh is Rs. 1683 for the full course of 1st year/1st semester (Direct Admission) and Fee for Rs. 2133 for the full course of 2nd year/3rd semester (Lateral Admission) Under Mukhya Mantri Stipend Scheme for General and other students, students can avail 100 per cent tuition fee waiver (Rs. 1100) during each semester on the basis of marks obtained above 60 per cent in the qualifying examination.
