Rotary Eye Bank and Cornea Transplantation Society organized a brief ceremony to launch the website related to eye donation under the chairmanship of head and prominent social worker Sanjeev Arora in which the chief guest Mrs. Komal Mittal Deputy Commissioner inaugurated the website and launched it. On this occasion, chief guest Komal Mittal praised the efforts of Rotary Eye Bank and said that the work being done by the government and institutions to remove cornea blindness is commendable and due to their efforts, thousands of people have become able to see again and Mrs. Mittal said that our society is progressing today on the strength of social service organizations like Rotary Eye Bank and she said that providing light to someone's dark life is the biggest charitable act and she also assured full cooperation to the society. On this occasion, President Sanjeev Arora told that till now more than 4090 cornea blindness patients have been provided with new eyes by the society and Mr. Arora told that among those who have been given cornea transplant, more than 500 are small children whose age is less than 15 years and he told that two blind lives get light from the eyes donated by one person and the family of the eye donors is also honored by the society on their bhog and rasam kirya so that other people can also get inspiration towards eye donation. Raminder Singh, Manpreet Singh and Prof. Daljit Singh had a special contribution in making the program successful. On this occasion, Chairman J.B. Behl and Raminder Singh said that tie-ups have been done with different hospitals for getting the operation done, in which AIIMS Delhi, Rajindra Medical College Patiala, Tri City Mohali, PGI Chandigarh, Dr. Shroff Charitable Hospital Delhi, Sankara Eye Hospital Ludhiana etc. are the main handlers and Mr. Behl told that after the death of a person, on being informed by his family members, the team of Rotary Eye Bank reaches his residence along with expert doctors and the process of taking eye donation is completed in just 15-20 minutes and Mr. Behl told that complete information related to eye donation has been given in the website.
