*Pathankot Police solve the Bomb Hoax and Fake Terror Threat Case*
Pathankot/Daljeet Ajnoha/July 21
In the early morning today, information was received that an abandoned Innova vehicle (HP 38 C 7219) was *vandalized* at Daki Road, Balaji Nagar, Pathankot. The suspects also scattered handwritten threatening leaflets in *Hindi* , aimed at instilling fear among the public. The notes contained alarming threats of *bomb blasts in Pathankot within five days,* purportedly involving 100 individuals, with 30 already present in the city. The leaflets concluded by writing *"Pakistan Zindabad."*
Informer *Nitin Gupta* @ Kannu, son of Ashok Kumar, resident of Nehru Nagar PS Div. 2, reported hearing suspicious noises outside his residence at approximately 4:30 am. From his balcony, he observed individuals fleeing the scene, shouting *"Khalistan Zindabad."* The suspects were not wearing turbans and appeared unarmed.
The vandalized vehicle had been *left unattended for over two months* and belonged to Pankaj Kumar, a local resident.
*Police Action
During the initial investigation, the police *matched the handwriting* on the threatening leaflets with a handwriting sample from a *Paytm payment card* found in Nitin Gupta's shop, which matched. This match led to Gupta being called in for questioning by the district police. Upon thorough interrogation, Gupta confessed to orchestrating the incident.
*Motive
He admitted that his motive was to have the abandoned vehicle removed from in front of his shop, where it had been parked for the past two months. To achieve this, he broke the car's glass panes and scattered the threatening leaflets to *sensationalize* the matter, ensuring that the police would impound the vehicle.
*Registration of FIR
Consequently, an FIR has been lodged under sections 217 BNS (182 IPC) and 152 BNS (124 A IPC) against Nitin Gupta, and he has been *arrested.*
