Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/2 July

Senior correspondent Daljeet Ajnoha had a special conversation with IG Sindhu Kumar about STCBSF (Subsidiary Training Centre Border Security Force) Kharkan camp and BSF, in which he told that during the wars of 1962 and 1965, there was State Armed Police and it used to guard the Indian border with Pakistan and Bangladesh. At that time it was seen that there was no communication between the guards, there was no training on what was happening on the border or how to deal with any suspicious situation, so at that time the government felt that a force should be formed which protects the border in peace time and maintains the safety of those working there and guides the army during war. On which 25 state armed battalions were formed on 1 December 1965 by the then Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi and the then F Rustam IPS was its zonal director. At present it is the main paramilitary force of India and the largest border security force of the country whose objective is to keep strict vigil on the major borders of India, protect Indian land and prevent international crime. At present there are 192 battalions of BSF in the country. He told that in view of security arrangements on the border, recruitment of women in BSF for GD was started in the western frontier area in the year 2008. He told about STCBSF Khadka Camp that the first STCBSF was formed on 1 March 1968 in Jalandhar and on 25 April 1979 STCBSF Khadka Camp came to Hoshiarpur and this assistant training center of BSF is spread over 898 acres 2 Kanal 5 Marla and till now 35189 young men and women have passed the training from here and are serving in different parts of the country, which includes 30189 young men and 5000 young women and currently a total of 1402 people are taking training, out of which 336 young men and 1066 young women are taking training and their training will be of 44 weeks. After passing out, they will also go to serve in different parts of the country. He told that those who perform well in any field by staying in STCBSF Khadka Camp are also honored from time to time by senior officials. He said that last week the national agency had inspected the training, facilities and other things given to the soldiers in STCBSF, in which the national agency gave the centre the status of 'Atti Uttam'
