A Program was organized today at Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Gurdwara Sahib at village Jaijon Doaba in memory of 11 people who lost their lives in the village Jaijon flood accident on August 11. On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Punjab Bram Shankar Jimpa and MP Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal expressed condolences to the families of those killed in the accident. They presented ex gratia amount cheques of Rs 44 lakh to the victim families. This amount was given to the families of the deceased Surjit Kumar, Paramjit Kaur, Gagan Kumar, Swaroop Chand, Paramjit Kaur, Nitin alias Nitish Kumar, Surinder Kaur, Amanat, Bhavana, Harshit and Kulwinder Singh from the State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF).

The Cabinet Minister and MP expressed deep condolences on this tragic incident and said that the State Government stands with the affected families in this difficult time. He said that this accident was extremely sad and heart-rending and we all can feel the pain of the families affected by this tragedy. He also appreciated the efforts made by the District Administration and the people of the nearby villages in relief and rescue operations.

On this occasion, former MLA Una Satpal Singh Raizada, SDM Garhshankar Shivraj Singh Bal, Tehsildar Sukhwinder Singh, BDPO Balwinder Singh, Namberdar Praveen Soni, Rashpal Singh Pali, Sarpanch Baddowal Ladi, Paramjit Singh, Roshan Lal, Renu Bala, Ratan Chand, Billa Jain, Jolly Jain, Amrik Shah, Kulwinder Singh, Ashwani Khanna, Vamdev Sharma, Murad Hussain, Amrik Singh, Som Nath, Prakash Chand, Deepak Bhatia, Mahinder Pal, Jaswant Kaur, besides people from nearby villages and many officials from Himachal Pradesh also attended the function.

It is worth noting that this accident happened on 11 August when an Innova car was swept away due to the strong flow of water in Jaijon Choe. There were a total of 12 people in the car. 9 people died tragically in this accident on the same day and the bodies of 9 people were found on the same day. Due to the promptness of SDRF and local residents, one person was rescued safely.

Two people were missing since the accident, for whose search a large-scale rescue operation was carried out by SDRF and local residents. Finally, on 14 August, the bodies of both the missing people were also recovered from Baddowal Khad, after which the count of people killed in the accident went up to 11.
