 Environment Awareness program Conducted with education regarding the adverse effects of Plastic Bags

                Under its CSR imitative-Vardhman Yarns &Threads Ltd, Hoshiarpur has initiated Environment Awareness Programme – PARIVARTAN under its CSR Intiative.

In this regard, the awareness sessions has been conducted in Govt.Sr.Sec.School-Ajram, Govt.Sr.Sec.School-Mengriwal & ITI-Hoshiarpur on 4th, 5th & 6th September ‘24.

The objective is to educate the people of Hoshiarpur especially Children (citizens of tomorrow) regarding harmful effects of single use plastic for reduction in use of Polythene (Plastic) Bags & other single use plastic items which have been banned by the government. 

 Mr. Parminder Singh Sr.VP-Engg & EHS, Vardhman, gave a presentation on the adverse effects of single use plastic and educated the students and teachers on how they can contribute in reducing single use plastic. By this the Children can take the idea back to their homes and will educate their parents , family members & friends spreading the message to a wider audience. 

During this Environment Awareness program, along with education regarding the adverse effects of Plastic Bags, Jute Bags were also distributed in these Schools of Ajram, Mengriwal & ITI-Hoshiarpur.

 These Jute bags are a very good alternative to single use Polythene (Plastic) Bags and can be repeatedly be used for a longer duration. These Jute bags are biodegradable and will not cause any environmental pollution at end of life cycle. 

 

Reduction in use of Plastic bags in day to day activities would certainly help in reducing plastic waste and thus keep the city cleaner. Keeping this as the objective VYTL could, under CSR, distribute Jute bags and will cover more schools & colleges in coming months encouraging the young generations to use the same in there day to day shopping activities and say no to the use of polythene bags and other single use plastic. On this occasion CSR team member's of Vardhman along with School Teachers and Staff were also present.
