 Member Secretary of Punjab State Legal Services Authority visits Central Jail

District and Sessions Judge-cum-Member Secretary Punjab State Legal Services Authority of SAS Nagar Manjinder Singh visited Central Jail Hoshiarpur. During this, CJM-cum-Secretary District Legal Services Authority Raj Pal Rwal was also present with him.

During the visit, he heard the problems of the prisoners/undertrials lodged in the jail and directed the Central Jail Superintendent to solve their difficulties. He obtained health related information of the prisoners. He inspected the kitchen to check the quality of food being provided in the jail and directed to take special care of cleanliness inside the jail.

On this occasion, the officers gave information about free legal services to the prisoners and undertrials. He said that free legal services are provided by the Hon'ble Supreme Court, Legal Services Committee, Hon'ble Punjab and Haryana Legal Services Committee, District Legal Services Authority and Sub-Divisional Legal Services Committees at the sub-divisional level. Along with this, he also checked the register of functioning of the Legal Aid Clinic established in the jail.

On this occasion, he also planted trees in view of environmental protection. On this occasion, he said that trees are the invaluable gift of nature and they are a great source of living. Medicines, wooden houses and furniture etc. are also made from them and they also protect from flood water. He advised everyone to plant trees in their homes.

On this occasion, Superintendent of Central Jail Baljit Singh Ghumman, Deputy Superintendent Harbhajan Singh and Chief Legal Aid Defense Council System Vishal Kumar were also present.
