CASO campaign launched against drugs and criminals in Hoshiarpur

Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched against drugs and criminals in Hoshiarpur district. This campaign was conducted in the district under the supervision of ADGP Punjab Anita Punj and leadership of SSP Surender Lamba. The campaign was conducted in various sensitive areas of the district from 10 am to 3 pm. During this period, 879 police personnel including four SPs and 13 DSPs of the district police covered 36 hotspot points with the help of the campaign to arrest drug smugglers for the prevention of drug abuse. Apart from this, 8 railway stations, 12 bus stands, 30 hotels and inns, 127 religious places in sub-divisions were covered in the district. Apart from this, 110 traffic challans were issued during checking of vehicles at 11 inter-state and 11 inter-district checkpoints and challans were issued to people violating traffic rules and 7 motorcycles were seized.
ADGP Anita Punj told reporters during inspection in village Hardokhanpur that the main objective of this campaign is to free the district from the problem of drug abuse and to crack down on criminals who are trying to spread disorder in the society. She said that during this campaign, several check-points were set up in the entire district and search operations were conducted in suspicious areas. She said that to make Punjab a drug-free state, Punjab Police today launched a cordon and search operation in identified drug hotspots and sensitive areas with the aim of breaking the drug supply chain from the point of sale. She said that our aim is not only to catch the criminals but also to free the society from the evil of drug addiction. This campaign will continue in the future as well and Punjab Police is committed to make the society safe and healthy.
SSP Surender Lamba expressed satisfaction over the success of the campaign and said that such operations will create an atmosphere of peace and security in the society. During this campaign, the police has achieved significant success, under which a total of 11 FIRs were registered and 10 people were arrested. He said that during this period 2 cases were registered in Thana Tanda, 1 in Mahilpur, 2 in Garhshankar, 2 in Thana City Hoshiarpur, 1 in Mehtiana, 1 in Garhdiwala, 1 in Mukerian, 1 in Dasuya. He said that during today's campaign, 360 grams of intoxicating powder, 20 grams of heroin, 1420 banned tablets, 320 banned capsules, 48,750 ml of illegal liquor, 32 bottles of country liquor, Rs 4700 in cash and a mobile phone were also recovered.
