- Deputy Commissioner visited Tanda Mandi in the presence of MLA Jasvir Singh and reviewed the procurement arrangements

Today, MLAs, Deputy Commissioner, SDMs and other officials of the district inspected the ongoing paddy procurement process in the mandis. During this, Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal visited Dana Mandi Tanda in the presence of MLA Jasvir Singh Raja Gill and thoroughly reviewed the arrangements there. He assured that the lifting process will be started smoothly in the mandis soon.


The Deputy Commissioner said that all necessary arrangements have been made for the convenience of the farmers. Arrangements for drinking water, cleanliness, shade, tarpaulin, and gunny bags have already been ensured in the mandis. She said that positive talks are going on with the shellers and millers at the administrative level, so that there is no hindrance in the procurement process. She said that paddy is being actively procured by the commission agents in the mandis, so farmers should feel free to bring their paddy to the mandis.


Komal Mittal informed that till October 11, a total of 38,413 metric tonnes of paddy has arrived in the mandis of the district, out of which 34,521 metric tonnes have been procured. She emphasized that the Punjab government is committed to buy every grain of the crop brought by the farmers and payment will also be ensured in time.


The Deputy Commissioner directed the officials that there should not be any delay in the process of lifting and payment. She said that farmers should get payment on time and there should be no laxity in this work. She also informed that there is adequate availability of gunny bags in the mandis, so that there will be no shortage during the season.


MLA Jasvir Singh Raja Gill said that the Punjab government is fully committed to protect the interests of the farmers. He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, excellent policies are being made for the farmers in Punjab and strong arrangements are being made to complete the purchase of paddy on time.
