In an exclusive interaction with well known Educationist and Senior Journalist Sanjiv Kumar, Mr. Bikramjit Singh Mahal, General Manager of Verka Milk Plant Mohali, shed light on the plant’s remarkable contributions to the welfare of farmers and its pivotal role in the state’s progress. He credited the success of the plant to the visionary leadership of Narinder Singh Shergill, Chairman of Milkfed Punjab, Rahul Gupta IAS, Managing Director of Milkfed Punjab, and the unwavering support of Bhagwant Singh Mann, Chief Minister of Punjab.
Driving Farmer Welfare
Speaking passionately about Verka’s mission, Mr. Mahal emphasized its commitment to empowering farmers. “Our farmers are the backbone of Punjab’s economy. At Verka Mohali, we ensure they receive fair prices, technical assistance, and access to resources that enhance their livelihoods. This is not just a business but a community effort to uplift our rural population,” he stated.
The plant organizes regular veterinary camps, provides subsidized cattle feed, and conducts training programs to educate farmers on advanced dairy farming techniques. These efforts have significantly improved milk production and enhanced the quality of life for countless farming families.
Boosting Punjab’s Dairy Industry
Under the guidance of Mr. Shergill and Mr. Gupta, Verka Mohali has expanded its operations, becoming a flagship dairy plant of Punjab. “We are grateful for their strategic leadership, which has steered us toward innovation and excellence,” Mr. Mahal shared.
Verka Mohali processes thousands of liters of milk daily, producing a wide range of products, including milk, butter, ghee, and ice cream. These products are not only popular in Punjab but also across India and internationally, contributing significantly to the state’s economy.
A Vision for Progress
Acknowledging the role of the state government, Mr. Mahal praised Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for his proactive approach to supporting Punjab’s dairy sector. “Under the direction of CM Mann, we have been able to implement policies that prioritize farmer welfare and environmental sustainability. His vision inspires us to work harder for the betterment of Punjab,” he added.
Commitment to Sustainability
The plant has also taken steps toward eco-friendly practices, reducing waste and conserving energy in its operations. Initiatives like clean water projects and community welfare programs further underline Verka Mohali’s dedication to holistic development.
Future Plans
Looking ahead, Mr. Mahal shared his aspirations: “Our goal is to make Verka a household name across the globe while continuing to support our farmers. With the guidance of our leadership and the trust of the people, we are confident in achieving new milestones.”
As Verka Milk Plant Mohali continues to flourish, its contributions resonate far beyond the dairy sector, exemplifying how cooperative efforts can drive sustainable growth and prosperity for Punjab.
