Officials instructed to address public issues on priority 


Says special focus to be given to Health and Education sectors

 Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain on Thursday said that the District Administration would get time-to-time feedback from residents so as to keep a check on development projects, benefits of welfare schemes, problems being faced by the people, delivery of citizen services and basic amenities across the district.


In a maiden media interaction after assuming charge, Deputy Commissioner mentioned that the traffic, garbage dumping and encroachment issues had already been under her notice and efficacious steps were being taken to address these concerns. She said that the basic facilities would be provided in every nook and corner of the district, where any difficulties were found that would be resolved within minimal time. She pointed out that people could report any issue of their areas in her office, so that prompt action could be initiated. 



Referring to media queries, Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain said that directions had already been issued to officials to resolve the public issues on priority. She also emphasised that the citizen services would also be provided within stipulated time frame.


Deputy Commissioner, who served as Commissioner at local Municipal Corporation in 2021, categorically said that as per the zero tolerance policy of Punjab Government stringent action would be initiated against those indulged in the drug abuse and corrupt practices. She also pointed out that the quality of development works would also be checked time-to-time. 


Aashika Jain reiterated that special focus would be laid on health and education sectors especially the infrastructure enhancement in hospitals. As many as 73 Aam Aadmi Clinics are successfully providing quality healthcare services to the resident in the district, she added. 


On the issue of drinking water and sewerage problems  in some of the city areas, Aashika Jain instruction had been given to Municipal Corporation to get these issues fixed immediately. She stated smooth traffic system would also be ensured especially in the main markets in consultation with all the stakeholders.
