17294 cases settled on the spot in National Lok Adalat, awards of Rs 7,33,66,781 were passed
National Lok Adalat organized by District Legal Services Authority

District Legal Services Authority today successfully organized the first National Lok Adalat of the year 2025. In this Lok Adalat, cases of NI Act (Section 138), bank recovery (pending and pre-litigation cases), labor disputes, MACT (Motor Accident Claim Tribunal) cases, electricity and water bills (except non-compoundable), matrimonial disputes, traffic challans, revenue matters and other civil and less serious criminal cases and domestic disputes etc. were kept.
The Lok Adalat was presided over by District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority Dilbag Singh Johal. On this occasion, a total of 24 benches were constituted in Hoshiarpur. These included 10 benches in Hoshiarpur Court, 4 in Dasuya, 3 in Mukerian, 2 in Garhshankar and 5 benches of Revenue Courts. 20025 cases were heard in Hoshiarpur District Lok Adalat, out of which 17294 cases were settled on the spot, and awards amounting to Rs. 7,33,66,781 were passed.
Special help desks for traffic challan payment were set up by the Police Department so that pending traffic challans in the courts could be settled easily.
During the Lok Adalat, District & Sessions Judge Dilbagh Singh Johal, CJM-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority Rajpal Rawl, along with Vice President of Bar Association Hoshiarpur Vikram Singh and Secretary Navjinder Singh Bedi visited all the Lok Adalat benches. Bar Association Hoshiarpur extended full cooperation in making this event successful.
CJM-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority Rajpal Rawl appealed to the people to take maximum advantage of their cases in Lok Adalats as it saves time and money. The decisions taken in Lok Adalat are final and no appeal can be made against them. This process helps in increasing mutual harmony between the two parties.
