Today, here at the local Hotel Shiraz Regency, a welcome ceremony was organized by Alliance Club International District 119 upon the arrival of 74-year-old engineer S.P. Sharma, who returned to Hoshiarpur after winning 3 gold medals and 2 bronze medals at the 44th National Veteran Athletics Championship held in Mysore. On this occasion, Lieutenant General J.S. Dhillon, Ally. Ashok Puri International Director ,  Ally. Advocate S.P. Rana, Past District Governor Ally. Ramesh Kumar and District Governor Ally. Vivek Sahni were specially present. The entire program was conducted by Dr. Sukhdev Singh Dhillon. On this occasion, Dr. Sukhdev Singh Dhillon told that veteran athlete S.P. Sharma won gold medals in long jump (3.87 meters) and high jump (1.05 meters), and secured the second position by completing the 100-meter race in 14.86 and the 200-meter race in 32.56 seconds. He told that he bring laurel to Hoshiarpur by winning the 4x100 meter relay race. On this occasion, retired Lieutenant General J.S. Dhillon congratulated him for maintaining his fitness at the age of 74 and bringing laurel to Hoshiarpur as well as Punjab and the country. He also urged for the creation of a veteran culture by involving the senior citizens of Hoshiarpur in veteran sports. Following Ally. Ramesh Kumar, Ally. Vivek Sahni, and Ally. Advocate S.P. Rana, Ally. Ashok Puri,  International Director , Alliance Club International for the year 2025-26, congratulated the 74 year old athlete for consistently winning medals in veteran sports since 2000. He also announced on this occasion that S.P. Sharma ji would be an hon'ble member of the Alliance Club's Super Senior Citizen . On this occasion, renowned hockey player Mrs. Gursharan Kaur Dhillon also congratulated the chief guest, S.P. Sharma. Subsequently, veteran athlete S.P. Sharma was felicitated.
