Accused in Noorpur Jattan Sacrilege Case Arrested, Remanded for One Day

The accused in the recent sacrilege incident at village Noorpur Jattan, district Hoshiarpur, has been arrested by the police. During a press conference held at Police Station Mahilpur, SP (D) Dr. Mukesh Kumar informed the media that the accused has been presented in court and has been remanded to police custody for one day for further interrogation.
Dr. Mukesh Kumar stated that the serious incident took place on April 18, 2025, in which 15 sacred angs (pages) of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji were desecrated. Given the sensitivity of the matter, District Police Chief Sandeep Kumar Malik (IPS) formed multiple investigation teams. These teams utilized both technical and human intelligence and managed to trace and arrest the accused within 24 hours.
The arrested accused has been identified as Gurvinder Singh alias Ginda, son of Santokh Singh, a resident of Morawali, Police Station Garhshankar, District Hoshiarpur. Based on the statement of Jarnail Singh, son of Charan Singh, a committee member of Gurdwara Sahib Noorpur Jattan, an FIR No. 46 dated 18.04.2025 was registered at Police Station Mahilpur under Section 299 of BNS.
The police have stated that further in-depth questioning is ongoing and all aspects of the case are being thoroughly investigated.
