A shocking and deeply disturbing incident of sacrilege was reported this morning at the historic Gurdwara Sahib in village Nurpur Jatta, located in the Garhshankar area. The incident has triggered widespread outrage among the local community. Responding swiftly, the police administration reached the site and initiated legal proceedings.
Superintendent of Police Dr. Naresh Kumar informed that around 9:00 AM today, he received a call from the former Sarpanch of the village reporting the act of sacrilege. A police team was immediately dispatched to the location to secure the site and begin a thorough investigation.
Dr. Kumar stated that multiple special teams have been formed to probe the matter from all angles, and every effort is being made to identify and apprehend the culprit at the earliest. He assured the public that the offender will be brought to justice without delay.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Garhshankar Jaspreet Singh also visited the scene and urged the community to maintain peace and trust in the law. He emphasized that any attempt to disrespect a religious place will not be tolerated and will be met with the strictest legal action.
Meanwhile, local social worker and contractor Surinder Singh Bhulewal Ratha expressed concern that the CCTV cameras installed at the Gurdwara Sahib were not operational at the time of the incident. Responding to this, DSP Jaspreet Singh clarified that while the cameras are in working condition, they were not functioning due to a power outage at the time. He added that technical aspects related to power supply and surveillance are also under investigation.
Currently, a police force has been deployed in the village to maintain law and order. Efforts are underway in collaboration with the Gurdwara Management Committee and village panchayat to ensure peace and stability in the area.
