Deputy Commissioner directs officials to keep regular check on entire procurement process
75 Mandis and 10 temporary yards sets up for seamless procurement

kickstarting wheat procurement at local grain market, Member Parliament Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal and MLA Bram Shanker Jimpa interacted with the farmers and assured that crop procurement, lifting and payment will be made well in time.
Accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain and other officials, Member Parliament Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal and MLA Bram Shanker Jimpa inspected the heap of farmer Sucha Singh of village Salempur, which was procurement on the spot. Dr. Chabbewal said that each and every required arrangement had already put in place at mandis across the district so as to facilitate farmers with prompt procurement. He said the State Government had directed the officials concerned to ensure seamless procurement as well as maintaining amenities for farmers and other stakeholders. He said Punjab is expected bumper crop with a set target of 124 LMT, which would be achieved.
MLA Bram Shanker Jimpa, while interacting with some farmers, said that Punjab Government had geared up for smooth purchase of crop and farmers will not face any inconvenience in mandis. He said they would also keep a close tap on procurement process so that farmers produce could be purchased well within time.
Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain said that as of now 3912 MT wheat had arrived in mandis of which 2186 MT was purchased by making payments worth Rs.1.69 crore while the remaining was underway. He said there were 75 Mandis and 10 temporary yards had been setup to purchase the crop where all needful amenities and arrangements were placed. She said that the Hoshiarpur district had a target of 314621 MT and urged the farmers to bring the crop within set parameters so that they could get free within minimal time span. Mayor Surinder Kumar and officials concerned were also present on the occasion.
