Renowned Social Worker and Educationist Urges Government to Revise School Timings Amidst Rising Temperatures

In light of the soaring temperatures and the ongoing heatwave across the region, renowned social worker and educationist, Sanjeev Kumar, has called on the district administration and the state government to reconsider the current school timings. He emphasized that the health and safety of children should be the top priority, urging authorities to make necessary adjustments to protect students from the dangerous effects of the extreme heat.
Kumar, who is also the President of the NGO A4C Dasuya, highlighted the increasing risks posed by the soaring temperatures, particularly the severe heatwaves that have been affecting the region. He suggested that schools should adopt either early morning or late afternoon shifts, reducing the exposure of children to the sweltering heat during the peak hours of the day.
“It is crucial that the administration takes immediate steps to safeguard the well-being of our students. The ongoing 'loo' (hot winds) is a serious concern for children's health, and we cannot afford to let our young generation suffer. We are urging the authorities to revise school schedules in order to ensure the safety of the children,” said Kumar in a statement to the press.
Kumar's plea has resonated with many concerned parents and educators who have been expressing similar concerns over the past few weeks. The NGO A4C Dasuya has launched an awareness campaign urging the public to join the call for timely changes to school schedules during the peak heatwave months.
The district administration has yet to respond officially, but this appeal highlights the growing need for adaptive measures in response to increasingly unpredictable weather patterns.
