In a significant development aimed at strengthening the ongoing war against drugs in Punjab, renowned senior journalist Daljeet Ajnoha held an insightful interaction with Ankurjit Singh, IAS, the Deputy Commissioner of Shaheed Bhagat Singh (SBS) Nagar. The discussion revolved around the district administration’s comprehensive strategy and multi-pronged approach in combating the menace of drug abuse.
During the interaction, DC Ankurjit Singh emphasized the Punjab Government’s firm commitment to uproot drug networks and rehabilitate affected youth. He elaborated on several key initiatives being undertaken across the district under the "Nasha Mukt Punjab" mission, including awareness campaigns, surveillance operations, and community-driven programs.
> “Our goal is not just to crack down on the supply chain but also to ensure that the youth of Punjab are guided towards positive paths through education, employment opportunities, and strong community support,” said DC Ankurjit Singh.
The Deputy Commissioner further highlighted the crucial role being played by Village Level Anti-Drug Committees, youth clubs, and educational institutions in generating awareness. Special drives are being conducted in rural as well as urban areas in coordination with the police, health department, and social welfare organizations.
He also appreciated the efforts of media professionals like Daljeet Ajnoha for being a voice of awareness and social change, stating that media’s role in spreading the right message is indispensable in such movements.
